June 2012 Favorites!

Hi there friends! This is my second favorites video, and I'm starting to really like filming these types of videos over any other type! I'm glad I decided to start sharing my favorites!


Any-hoo, Here is what I have been loving, what are your June favorites??


1. Natural Radiance Wrinkle Reducer patches
-Not sure if these are actually work, because I don't have any wrinkles yet, but they are very cooling and calming on the eyes! Rid of dark circles over night.


2. MakeUpForEver Aqua Smoky Lash mascara
-The DRIEST mascara formula I have ever come across! Perfect for my short and sparse lashes, just wish it had a different price tag! LOL


3. Loreal Magic Souffle Smooth foundation
-The WEIRDEST foundation I have ever used. Looks like a cream, feels like a mousse, but dries to a powder consistency. This is THE BEST foundation for oily complexions during the summer.


4. Julep Daylight Defense SPF 30
-It is always hard to find the right SPF for summer because they tend to be too emollient. They make my oily skin more oily and even cause me to break out. Luckily, this SPF is PERFECT for oily/combo skin. It doesn't feel heavy at all and still provides great protection!


5. Julep Daylight Defense Lip Balm
-I don't care much for SPF in lip balms but I added this to my favorites because I can't get enough of the flavor! It tastes JUST like chocolate after eat mints!! YUM


6. Black Eyeshadow!
-Using black eyeshadow was a bad idea in the past for me. I could never blend it right and it looked patchy and messy and dirty... but I have been practicing and getting the hang of it-- now I can't help but use black in every eye look lately!!


7. Bullet Blending Brush - Coastal Scents
-Using a small little bullet brush like this has made using black eyeshadow so much easier!


8. Broadway Nails Impress Manicure in Love Bites
-This is the second time I've used these types of nails and they lasted so much longer this time around!! It must have been the way I applied last time.. But these lasted a whole 8 days!! Even after dish washing, chores, bathing dogs, etc.

Diamond Sparkle Gloss

This gloss was extremely bright. It looked more like children's play makeup or something a drag queen would wear. The shade was not something I see myself or any other adult wearing. As far as the formula goes, it is really nice. This isn't overly sticky or runny, it just has the perfect consistency. The glitter is not obnoxious and it comes off easily with a makeup wipe. I'm sure I would have enjoyed this more in another shade.

This eye liner was a dud in my opinion. I didn't like the formula, the color, or the glitter. It was runny, smeary, and the glitter was too reflective; it made my lash line look like it was missing liner in some places because the light reflecting from the glitter. 

Shadow Base in Nude

Price: $6.99
I liked this eye shadow base, it was creamy and smooth, it applied easily and helped shadows stick. The color was a bit off; the container read Nude but it was more of a bronze shade. This was very similar to the Maybelline eye tattoos, only the eye tattoos are a bit more shimmery. 

Shadow Duo in Egyptian Queen

Shades: Egyptian Queen (purple and gold) and Beach Babe (teal and pink)
Price: $5.99
These eye shadow duos were very nice. The formula is good, not chalky. The colors are beautiful. The only downside, is these wear off easily. They lasted and looked much, much better with a base underneath. However, I feel these are over priced. The shadows feel and wear exactly like Jordana shadows, only Jordana products are about $1.50 and last fine on their own, without a base. 




****Overall thoughts****: In my opinion this company has products extremely similar to Jordana Cosmetics, but I feel Jordana is cheaper and better quality.

FOTD: Wet n Wild 10 Pan Palette in "Blue Had me at Hello"

I hardly ever wear bright colors, but I figured I would today :)

MASCARA HAUL

Hello loveelies :)

Before I begin the review for all these mascaras; let me expalin.

I'm sure that EVERYONE goes through makeup phases (this cant be only me!!), right?

For a few weeks you are in love with eyelashes and want to buy all kinds of new ones. Then it changes to blush, and you find yourself lusting after all kinds textures and colors for your cheeks.

I do this ALL the time, and it's kind of how I build my collection (I get obsessive and start buying like crazy!).

I have gone through SO many beauty phases these past few months and mascara was one of them. For a while I was a "one mascara only" girl. I used the same mascara over and over, and repurchased once it dried up. But I have been wanting to experiment with new formulas, brushes, and finishes.

So these upcoming weeks will mostly be mascara reviews! I hope you all enjoy!

I CUT OFF ALL MY LASHES!!

What a way to grab someone's attention, eh?? Sadly, this wasn't just something to get your attention, I did accidently cut my lashes off, but not all of them, thank God!

Hello Lovees! I am happy to bring you all this amusing post, it was highly requested and I hope it makes you laugh! :)

Some may remember, I have complained about this so much; but, I HATE the ELF lash curler! Every time I use it, it some how manages to cut my eyelashes! No, I did not pull them out on accident with the curler, nor did I pinch myself and pull my lashes out. I cannot understand why this keeps happening and I don't plan on investigating and losing more lashes!

Basically, this is what happend.
I'm getting ready for New Years and I have finished my makeup look for the night. All there is left for me to do is curl my lashes and apply mascara. I can't find my everyday, drugstore lash curler, so, unwillingly, I turn to my ELF one. Rubber in place, old mascara goop wiped away, I place it along my lash line and clamp down. And I hear it. That scary, easily recognized sound of hair being snipped. My heart is suddenly beating loudly in my ear as the panic sets in. "Oh no.. Oh my God, not again!". I pull the lash curler away and look closer in the mirror. Yup. In the center of my lashline, I have a bald spot. *le sigh*

You can imagine what happens next. I tossed the curler for good and whipped out the ol falsies and lash glue.

It took me 3 months to grow out my lashes the last time this happened. Only, last time I somehow managed to snip my entire lashline on both eyes! So, hopefully it won't take as long to grow out this time around.

Go ahead and have a laugh at my bald spot, its ok! I have to admit, it is so ridiculous that I even laughed at myself this time :)

Coastal Scents GO Palettes

I love to travel, and I love "traveler" palettes; they're small and convenient for trips! Lately I've been buying things like this:

And so, of course, I could not go with out buying a few of these cute little GO palettes. I only bought 3, but I plan on getting more (but not all) of them.

Price: $8.95 a palette; So Affordable!

Packaging: Plastic compact with large mirror inside. The front of each palette features the Coastal Scents GO logo and the name of the city that inspired it. It also has the company's website printed on it; something I wasn't too fond off, it looks cheap in my opinion.

Details: 7 portable and travel friendly eyeshadow palettes inspired by cities from around the world. Each palette comes with 12 eyeshadows and a large mirror.

Pros: These shadows are decently pigemented. They're perfectly sized.  They last all day with a primer. I love the colors. All the shades combined in each palette are perfectly selected; you're not getting shades that have absolutely nothing in common.

Cons: There was at least one or two chalky shades in each palette,; those shades were harder to swatch. They take a heavier application to show up on the lid. Without a primer, these are still great, but not as vibrant. If you own any of the other 88 palettes, you may notice some dupes or repeatitions of these shadows. I own the 88 Warm pallete and the 88 Metal Mania palette and I have noticed 2 or 3 crossover shades but I don't mind it.

Additional Comments: Some people don't like these because some shades are the same as the the other palettes, but I'm not only interested in the shades; Im also interested in the size.

I like the idea that I can toss these in my travel bag or in my purse when I'm in a hurry instead of taking an entire 88 palette.

These would make a great gift. Slide one into the stocking for Christmas, buy a couple and stuff it into a cute cosmetic bag, or spoil your beauty addict friends and family by buying the entire set!

Don't/Do Recommend: Yes, I still recommend the palettes.  These are too cute, affordable, good quality  for the price, just all around a decent find!

Sephora's Allure Beauty Editor's Palette

This is the second item on my Sephora haul and its another "Traveler's" palette (A palette for on the go!). I had a lot of questions as to why I bought two traveler palettes.
Here's why: The Colorista palette allowed me to pick any shades I wanted for the smaller palette. But sometimes, I took so much time trying to pick and choose colors that it defyed thepurpose of even buying the palette at all; to spend less time at home finicking over my makeup at home! So, I bought the Allure Beauty Editor's Palette by Sephora because it includes 5 already assembled mini palettes in one! When I am really in a hurry, I jsut pick one and go!

Price: I purchased mine for $54; last I heard it was only $17! :D

Details: 5 mini makeup palettes set into one large container/case. Each palette offers a different look. All the palettes contain 6 shadows, 1 blush, and 1 lip gloss. The palettes pop out of the case and can be put in the mini-compact for on-the-go use.

Pros: These shadows are so beautiful, they have great color payoff and I am very satisfied with them. There is a nice mix of matte and shimmer shades. The blushes are gorgeous and have amazing pigmentation; all the blushes are matte (yay!). The large case/container that this comes in is sturdy. The palettes pop out easily, but not too easily (they will not be falling out every few minutes). I like that I don't need a stylus/pick to remove the palettes like in the Colorista palette. The colors apply with minimal effort, just tap your brush into them and you have enough product! The lip glosses--Oh my goodness, I love them! They have the look and feel of a gloss but the color of a rich lipstick! And they last a good while. The blush and shadows last me a full work/school day with a primer or some sort.

Cons: The shadows are the slightest bit too soft. One of the shadows is matte black and I accidently dropped it on the floor in my bedroom; it chipped a little and left tons of fall out on my white carpet! (anyone know how to get that out?). So handle these carefully. Other than that, I have no complaints about this palette! Except that I bought it when it was still full price LOL!

Would I buy this again / Recommend to a friend: YES! Absolutely; I am rarely so completely satisfied with a product but this one has earned its high marks! It makes for a great gift and looks pretty sitting attop a vanity :)

Sephora Colorista Palette

Has this ever happened to you?: You have three or so favorite shades but they're in a larger palette. When you're in a hurry, you try to just bring the entire thing with you but end up with a broken palette or crushed makeup! There is a fix! Sephora has recently come out with two "traveler palettes". The idea is a small removable palette within a larger one holding all of the shades! PERFECT!

Here's the skinny!:

Price: (temporarily?) Discontinued, was available for $30

Details: 40 eyeshadows, 15 Lip colors, 3 Cheek and 3 Bronzer shades, 5 Cream liners, 1 Removable palette and 1 stylus/pick to remove makeup pans. The lip, shadow, and liner pans are all dime sized. The blush and bronzers are about 2'' X 3''.

Pros: Great for travel, small yet sturdy, Nice large mirror on bigger palette, Large variety of shades for the beginner or all makeup lovers. The colors are bright and vibrant. The blushes and bronzers have great color payoff. Lip colors have good pigmentation and are not overly sticky.

Cons: Stylus/Pick tends to fall out of place quite often and chip shadows. Cream liners are not very pigmented ; they take multiple applications to show up effectively. Lip colors tend to melt quickly/easily. Most shades are shimmer/not very many matte shades (only 5). Bronzers have a slight amount of shimmer to them.

Recommendations: Store this flat or remove the little pick to keep it from crashing into your makeup pans; about three of my lip shades have been smeared by this little guy, and two of my blushes have been chipped from it as well. Definitely use a primer for these shadows. They are not horrible in pigmentation, but will last longer with a primer. The lip glosses in this palette are very fragile. I do not recommend taking them with you in the smaller palette because they melt in even minimal heat very easily, and they tend to get full of loose shadow fallout.

I really enjoy this palette. I took it with me when I went on vacation this summer. It was perfect in size and held some of my favorite shades. Keep an eye out this Christmas for it to come back on sale!

Laura Geller's Eye Rimz Baked Wet/Dry Eye Accents

The next item in my Laura Geller haul is one of her beautiful baked eyeshadows! This one is the shade Cobalt Blue; it comes in other shades such as Bewitching Bronze and Hocus Pocus (Rich emerald green).
The packaging for this shadow is just a bit bigger than a MAC shadow, it is 1.2 grams of product. I love that the lid comes with a mini half sized mirror!
These are available for $26.50 on sites like QVC, Laura Geller, and at Ulta Beauty.
This shadow is baked in Italy and has beautiful swirls of dark royal blue, shimmery pearl and silver, and irredescent smokey black. This shadow can be used in so many ways to create a wide variety of looks.
These can be used wet or dry, mixed, or seperate, and all over the lid or as an accent.

Wet: Mist your cleam palm with a little water or makeup setting spray. Now tap your brush into it. Dab the moist brush into the shadow to pickup the pigment. Pack the shadow onto your lid. The end result is pure metallic color.
Dry: Apply an eyeshadow base all over the lid. Tap your brush into the shadow anto pick up the pigment. Pack the shadow on your lid. the end result is rich and dramatically smokey color.
Applying this product wet or dry creates different looks, but the colors you use in this shadow can also have new effects on the look. Swirling the brush in all the colors creates a deep smokey eye. You can also tap your brush in one color at a time to build a full lid, crease, and browbone eye look.
I mentioned before that this can be used as an accent. Although I didn't take a picture of it, this shadow also comes with a small crease-like brush. It is perfecrtly sized to pick up the shadow and small enough to pinpoint where you want the shadow; like around the rim of your eye as a dry eyeliner accent.
This shadow is great for day to night looks. Apply it lightly using all the colors in the shadow for a blue and pearl eye with black accents for the day. Easily transfer into a night look by reapplying the shadow with a mix of all the colors!
Versatile and packed with rich pigment payoff, this is a great product!

Laura Geller's The Perfect Pairing Waterproof Liquid and Powder Eyeliner

Ok, to start these fun reviews I have here my absolute favorite of the products sent to me! It is a double ended waterproof eyeliner!
There are two reasons I fell in love with this product: It is like nothing I have ever used before and it is absolutely long wearing.
The shade I got was Brown, although it also comes is Black, Eggplant, and Navy; although, I believe, the Brown and Navy colors are only available on QVC. These are priced at $26.50 each.
Here is how it works:
First apply the liquid liner to the base of the lash line in smooth and quick strokes. This liquid liner dries fast and is smudgeproof. The color comes off  rich and shiny. Next apply the powder liner just above the liquid liner to set the product and brighten the color. The end result looks like an expertly smudged yet clean and crisp soft smokey line that instantly sophisticates any eye look.

 This makes it so easy to achieve a great lined eye look. Sometimes it is difficult finding a liner that isn't runny or if it has the right consistency, it doesn't always appear to be true to color. But this is the perfect formualtion. The liner is made with film-formers to help it dry and last all day. The powder liner is formulated with ultra fine milled natural minerals to make the eyes pop with color.
The liquid liner is small and precise, while the shadow liner has a unique wand that holds the powder and packs it over the lid. My only advice is to tap off any excess of the powder or it will end up under the eye in tons of beautiful glittery fallout! Oh no!
 This is just a wonderful pair and I highly recommend it. This is ophthalmologist tested and safe for those who wear contacts. I understand this may seem a little too pricey for just an eyeliner, no matter how wonderful it is, but it can always be requested as a special birthday or anniversary gift!

E.L.F Studio Mineral Infused Mascara

Hey everyone, here I have for you the only mascara I dared to try from E.L.F cosmetics. I was a bit hesitant to try these because they are discount and I have had bad experiences with discount mascaras. Buying cheap could cause damage to your eyes and lashes!

But for $3 this actually turned out to be a really nice mascara!

It is "supposedly" miniral infused but the ingredients are mostly everyday mascara ingredients.

 I love the wand on this; it's silicone and bends to hug every lash; even the hard to reach inner lashes. The brush has many alternating rows of tiny bristles. The bristles seperate lashes really well and add great definition without the clumps.

This applies evenly and gives lashes that long and awake look. Do not confuse this with a volumizing mascara, though. This does nothing for thickness.

I recommend this for that natural makeup look because it brings out your lashes but doesn't make them look overdone or like you're wearing a lot of product.

The formula is very leightweight, which I like because the wetter formulas always make my lashes clump up and lose their curl.

I even use this mascara as a base when I don't want to pile on a thickening mascara. Simply apply this to lashes for definition and lenght and then apply a second coat of a thicker formula. This saves you from using up to three or four applications of that more expensive brand!

This is definitely one to try out!

E.L.F Mechanical Eyelash Curler

After watching some of my favorite Guru reviews on youtube, I was sold and had to order ELF's eyelash curler! I was very excited to get this becuase my lashes, like my hair, cannot hold a curl to save my life. This is also only one dollar and comes with an extra pad and a plastic clamp that holds the curler closed when not in use. When this came in, my excitement dropped and flopped to the ground. I may have just gotten a bad batch (considering everyone else's wonderful raves) but this lash curler sucks, simply put. The rubber pad is always falling out and it falls apart. When I clamped the curler down it cut the rubber in half. That is not the worst part, just how it cut through the rubber, it also cut my lashes! Yes my lashes are now half their length, and I already had short lashes! However, this was about a month and a half ago and my lashes are slowly but surely growing back. I caution everyone when buying this curler, becareful!

Avon 12 in 1 Shimmering Eye Palette

I'm an Avon fan for some of their products, but definetely not for this one. I'm not sure why this turned out so bad for me? Avon's site has reviews of how GREAT this is so maybe I just got a bad batch?This is Avon's eyeshadow palette, its available for backorder on their website for the price of $20.00. I ordered this when it was still in the catalogues so I got it for less but I dont rememeber the exact price. This palette has 12 colors which break up into 3 quad color arangements. These colors are really beautiful in the palette but on the eyes, they just skip. The quality of these shadows is poor. I have to apply again, and again, and again to get a decent color payoff. There are only like 2 or 3 colors that go on nicely, but overall these are just really flakey. They work way better wet as a liner so thats what I use mine for. I usually love Avon products but this was just disappointing. Maybe you guys will have better luck with this than I did. Happy blogging and God bless!

Coastal Scents 78 Shadow Blush Palette

This is CS 78 Shadow and Blush Palette and it is available for only $18.95! Amazing price for this palette because this really has it all. Although the name doesn't say it, this palette not only has shadows and blushes but also 12 eyeliners. This is the perfect beginners palette because it has everything from nudes and neutrals to bright spring colors, it has shimmer, matte, and satin finishes; their is so much to work with and a lot can be achieved with this palette. It comes in the standard palette encasing with the full mirror and two spongetipped applicators.

These are some swatches of the brighter colors but there are some incredible neutrals as well.

These are two of the 12 liners in the palette. These can be applied with a wet liner brush. The first swatch is a shimmery silver and the second is matte black. 

This is the last swatch I did, its two of the blushes. The first is a soft pearlescent pink and the other is a matte satin rose. There are also nude, peach, and different shades of pinks and roses. 
This palette is so versatile and great for the price. I would keep it but I don't need another palette for now so this will be another gift. Thats it for my Coastal Scents haul, thank you for bearing through it with me!

Coastal scents 88 Metal Mania Palette

It is finally here! My long awaited palette! I bought this palette initially because I wanted some new colors for spring and this palette is absolutely perfect for just that.This palette is available on the CS website for $24.95, standard palette price. These colors are just gorgeous. They have great pigmentation and color payoff. There is all shimmer colors in this palette (hence the name METAL MANIA) but it is not overly glittery. The colors have a slight sheen to them. There is a range of highlights, bronze/golds, greens, blues, purples, pinks, reds, yellows, corrals, and some browns. These colors are intense and bright, they have perfect spring shades. Luckily my palette didnt come damaged!

Here are the first set of swatches I did for the palette. A grassy green, a yellow toned bronze, an orchid purplem and a corral toned pink. All of these swatches are done with one finger swipe and no base so just imagine how amazing these are with a brush and some shadow insurance or primer potion.

The last set of swatches I did were some more nuetral tones to show that this palette can be extreme and subtle depending on what kind of look you're trying to achieve. The first swatch is a bronze, the next a seaglass teal, the next is a champagne highlight, and the last is a deep brown with a slight plum undertone. The thing I love about this palette is that every color has an undertone or different colored irredescent shimmer to it that makes for an interesting eyelook.
This palette is wonderfully versatille and in my opinion absolutely necessary for this spring.

Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette

So here are the swatches I promised. The first collage has pictures of the four swatch colors I chose. The first being a silver with a blue undertone. The second swatch is a peach, the third is brown with a bit of a red hue, and the fourth is a gold.
All of the swatches I chose were shimmer but there is a large variety of matte, shimmer, and satin colors. This palette is perfect for the smokey/office eye but can be amplified for night wear as well.
These colors are very pigmented and have wonderful color payoff. These swatches are on my arm without a base, so with a base these colors would be even better.
The second collage shows the pallete closed and opened. As you can see my mirror is already broken and the sponge tip applicators that it comes with are missing.
They fall out very easily and once they're out they are never going back in! The mirror breaking was an accident; I stepped on the palette and it shattered the mirror. Luckily none of the shards got into my shadows and none of the shadows were crushed from the pressure. Be very carefull. These palettes are not the sturdiest.
Overall, this is a wonderful beginner's palette if your not into bright colors and it is great quality for a good price. This palette is available at CoastalScents.com for around 25 dollars. Let me know what you guys think! Happy blogging and God bless :)
