Coastal Scents GO Palettes

I love to travel, and I love "traveler" palettes; they're small and convenient for trips! Lately I've been buying things like this:

And so, of course, I could not go with out buying a few of these cute little GO palettes. I only bought 3, but I plan on getting more (but not all) of them.

Price: $8.95 a palette; So Affordable!

Packaging: Plastic compact with large mirror inside. The front of each palette features the Coastal Scents GO logo and the name of the city that inspired it. It also has the company's website printed on it; something I wasn't too fond off, it looks cheap in my opinion.

Details: 7 portable and travel friendly eyeshadow palettes inspired by cities from around the world. Each palette comes with 12 eyeshadows and a large mirror.

Pros: These shadows are decently pigemented. They're perfectly sized.  They last all day with a primer. I love the colors. All the shades combined in each palette are perfectly selected; you're not getting shades that have absolutely nothing in common.

Cons: There was at least one or two chalky shades in each palette,; those shades were harder to swatch. They take a heavier application to show up on the lid. Without a primer, these are still great, but not as vibrant. If you own any of the other 88 palettes, you may notice some dupes or repeatitions of these shadows. I own the 88 Warm pallete and the 88 Metal Mania palette and I have noticed 2 or 3 crossover shades but I don't mind it.

Additional Comments: Some people don't like these because some shades are the same as the the other palettes, but I'm not only interested in the shades; Im also interested in the size.

I like the idea that I can toss these in my travel bag or in my purse when I'm in a hurry instead of taking an entire 88 palette.

These would make a great gift. Slide one into the stocking for Christmas, buy a couple and stuff it into a cute cosmetic bag, or spoil your beauty addict friends and family by buying the entire set!

Don't/Do Recommend: Yes, I still recommend the palettes.  These are too cute, affordable, good quality  for the price, just all around a decent find!

Coastal Scents Haul/Unboxing!

Hey Lovees! My little sister's birthday was just this past October and, of course, I could not go without spoiling her (and myself a little!); so the next few posts will be featuring some things I got from Coastal Scents.

I'm sure many of you have seen their new Go Palettes from around the world and I bought a few of those.
I wish I would have picked up a few more but I bought three for now. Here's the entire collection:

Coastal Scents 78 Shadow Blush Palette

This is CS 78 Shadow and Blush Palette and it is available for only $18.95! Amazing price for this palette because this really has it all. Although the name doesn't say it, this palette not only has shadows and blushes but also 12 eyeliners. This is the perfect beginners palette because it has everything from nudes and neutrals to bright spring colors, it has shimmer, matte, and satin finishes; their is so much to work with and a lot can be achieved with this palette. It comes in the standard palette encasing with the full mirror and two spongetipped applicators.

These are some swatches of the brighter colors but there are some incredible neutrals as well.

These are two of the 12 liners in the palette. These can be applied with a wet liner brush. The first swatch is a shimmery silver and the second is matte black. 

This is the last swatch I did, its two of the blushes. The first is a soft pearlescent pink and the other is a matte satin rose. There are also nude, peach, and different shades of pinks and roses. 
This palette is so versatile and great for the price. I would keep it but I don't need another palette for now so this will be another gift. Thats it for my Coastal Scents haul, thank you for bearing through it with me!

Coastal Scents Pink Perfection Kabuki

I ordered this cute kabuki brush from CS and it is $8.95 on their website; I believe it is the most expensive brush they sell so that is a great deal. They have some really good brushes for unbeatable prices! This kabuki is one of the softest brushes I have ever felt. I'm not exactly sure what the bristles are made of but it is incredible to the touch. It is hot pink from the ferrule to the end of the bristles. The ferrule is very sturfdy and holds the hairs together very well. This kabuki is great for powders; because the hairs are full and packed together this kabuki gives great application. It is average size for a kabuki, from top to bottom it measures close to four inches. This brush came in a soft pliable plastic case which keeps the bristles safe and clean. This bag is for keeps; not a disposible baggie like other brushes have so don't throw it away! The kabuki did not smell when I opened it and it has NO loose hairs whatsoever. Even after washing the bursh did not lose hairs or dyes. This brush is great for the price. if not an absolute steal. I love this brush but I hate pink! lol So this will just be given away :)

Arabian Gold Pencil & Makeup Pouch

This cute golden bag is available at CS for $8.95; I bought two so I could keep one and give one away. This bag is faux reptile skin and measures 9 inches so its perfect for those long brushes and pencils. This is great for travel or when your just in a hurry and need to toss a few brushes or pencils in your bag but you dont want them to get messed up. The center photo has a size six shoe lol I couldnt think of what to compare it to until AFTER I had edited pictures, I then realized, you know I could just measure the darn thing. Oh well, its just for laughs now :) The pouch is very soft and looks quite elegante.The zipper is very sturdy and will not snap with a firm tug. The pouch opens from end to end which is great. I know sometimes with other packs, the bag would be long enough but the zippered opening was too short to fit my brushes in and I would have to put one end in first and then kind of squish the other end in: damaged my brushes; quick fix for that is to just buy this bag. The inside is lined with a very heavy plastic so it is easy to clean and doesnt leave fallout or smudges all over the place. It's also more hygenic because cloth and fabric holds more bacteria than a plastic lining would. Anytime you wash your brushes just give this pouch a wipe with some antibacterial wipes. It's a great buy, I love it.

Pink Perfection!

I ordered a pink kabuki from CS but I forgot to take some photos of it! so I'll try to have that review up tomorrow :) Sorry for those who were waiting to see it; for now all I can say is WOW, great investment :)

Coastal Scents Small Pencil Crease Brush

This is the crease brush I ordered, it was $3.29 and I'm kind of regreting buying it. I almost don't use it. The first thing that caught my eye was how long this brush is. This brush is about 8 inches long! I do not like that at all, it is just a personal prefrence of mine; some people wouldnt mind the length of a brush. The bristles are made from a "goat hair blend". This brush was also a little on the scratchy side. Though the name says crease brush, I don't reccomend using this for the crease and outer V work because it is just way too precise. I tried it and it ended up being very hard to blend out and even after I had blended it, it still looked harsh. This is better for smudgeing liner or applying a little white or shimmer on the inner corner of the eyes. Other than that I dont use it at all. This doesnt compare to anything becuase I'm pretty sure there arent brushes with this many downsides. The only upside I would say is no shedding.

Coastal Scents Doefoot Angle Blender

This is the C419 Angle Blender and it is available for $3.95 on the website. I mostly bought this because I have never tried a doefoot brush of any kind and I wanted to see what it was all about. I was a little disappointed when I opened my brush. The bristles around the outer edge were frayed and spewing in crazy directions. Im not sure if it was from packaging or handling but it brought it down a star on the scale for me. The bristles were not as soft as I thought they were going to be, considering all the other brushes were really soft.This brush is made from a combo of goat and sable hairs (might explain the scratchiness) and it is a little fluffy. I thought this was going to mud out my shadows but I was wrong. The brush didnt look good but when I used it, it really changed my thoughts on it. Though it is fluffy, this brush has really good precision and control on crease work and blends out shadows amazingly. This is now definitley a must in my collection, I would compare it to something but I haven't found anything like this yet so if anyone knows of a dupe, send me a message.  

Coastal Scents Devine Medium Eyeshadow Brush

This brush is from the Devine collection from CS. I bought two of these and they are $2.49 each on the website. This brush is glossy black from ferrule to end. The bristles are not synthetic; they are made from pony hair so if you're vegan do not buy this brush. The ferrule holds the bristles together really well, there were no loose bristles when I washed and used them. This brush is very soft but also dense. It is perfect for packing on color and leaves hardly any fall out at all. Again this brush is about standard lenght, six inches I believe. Definitely a dupe for MAC's 213. Great Brush overall.

Coastal Scents Synthetic Shadow Brush

I bought quite a few brushes in my last CS order. This one here is the Synthetic Shadow brush. I bought two of these and they are $2.95 each on the website. The bristles at the top are supossed to be white but as you can see, I have already used mine. Its a fluffy duo-fiber brush and it is great for blending shadows or applying highlight under the brow. The ferrule on this brush is great, there is no shedding what so ever. The handle is standard length and is matte black. The size of the brush bristles are about medium length and very fluffy so this brush will not give you a precise application; its better for blending harsh lines. The brush is very soft and had no wierd smell when i opened it. This can be considered a dupe for MAC's 239, only this is a duo-fiber brush. I am very pleased with this brush and reccomend it.

Coastal scents 88 Metal Mania Palette

It is finally here! My long awaited palette! I bought this palette initially because I wanted some new colors for spring and this palette is absolutely perfect for just that.This palette is available on the CS website for $24.95, standard palette price. These colors are just gorgeous. They have great pigmentation and color payoff. There is all shimmer colors in this palette (hence the name METAL MANIA) but it is not overly glittery. The colors have a slight sheen to them. There is a range of highlights, bronze/golds, greens, blues, purples, pinks, reds, yellows, corrals, and some browns. These colors are intense and bright, they have perfect spring shades. Luckily my palette didnt come damaged!

Here are the first set of swatches I did for the palette. A grassy green, a yellow toned bronze, an orchid purplem and a corral toned pink. All of these swatches are done with one finger swipe and no base so just imagine how amazing these are with a brush and some shadow insurance or primer potion.

The last set of swatches I did were some more nuetral tones to show that this palette can be extreme and subtle depending on what kind of look you're trying to achieve. The first swatch is a bronze, the next a seaglass teal, the next is a champagne highlight, and the last is a deep brown with a slight plum undertone. The thing I love about this palette is that every color has an undertone or different colored irredescent shimmer to it that makes for an interesting eyelook.
This palette is wonderfully versatille and in my opinion absolutely necessary for this spring.
Thats it for my first CS haul today, lets hope my second package comes in tomorrow!

Coastal Scents Camo Quad



This concealer quad is from Coastal Scents for $7.95 and is a great find. I bought mine in "Medium" and the picture in the center of the collage is true to what it really looks like in person. Some reviews said that this color was way too light to be considered medium but for my skin tone it was just right. This quad is not too light at all. The consitency of this concealer is extremely creamy and equally pigmented. When using this it is very important to use the smallest amount possible. Believe me just one light swipe of the fingertip is a little too much so keep that in mind. Too much product will look cakey. For best results I picked up the product with my finger tip and warmed it between my fingers before dapping it onto my face. After that I blended it out with my C224 and the results were great! The top white color can be used on the inner and outer corners of the eyes and also as a base under shadows. I tried this as a base and it was perfect, just dont apply too much or it will crease. The next shade, moving in a clockwise motion, was a perfect match for my undereye area. The bottom shade was a good color for my blemishes and any scars from healing acne. The last shade was a bit too light to use for a base or under eye/blemish corrector so I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet. I have heard of some people mixing the shades in the quad to find one that suits them best so I guess thats what I'll do. For the price, this concealer is really high quality which is why just a little is the right ammount. I'll probably buy a new one once I hit pan.

Coastal Scents Pro Mini Kabuki & Bag

This itty bitty brush is the cutest thing. This is available at Coastal Scents for $6.95. I thought this was going to be a bit bigger from the picture on their site; however, this is only about the size of my index finger and I have very small hands. My largest finger is a size 6 so you can just imagine how small this is compared to a normal hand. The bag is a replica of snake skin and has a strurdy snap closure.  When unsnapped, the bag rolls open and reveals a linen pouch for your brush. I was expecting something bigger but I'm not entirely dissappointed because I needed something to just toss in my bag when I'm in a hurry. If you're looking for a regular sized kabuki for everyday use you will probably not like this. CS has a few more for only 2 or so more dollars and that would be a better investment. These bristles are very soft but it does shed a little. After my first use it lost about 2 hairs but no more after that. When I opened it, it had an odd smell to it; maybe from being in their warehouse? Overall this brush is cute but not completely worth the money, for a few dollars more you can just get a prettier full sized one that doesnt shed or smell.

Coastal Scents Oval Camoflage Brush

This is one of the brushes I ordered from Coastal Scents, its the C224 concealer and foundation brush. This brush was $3.49. It is great qualty, the bristles are softer than I thought they would be. This comes pretty close as a dupe for MACs 195 only the CS one is not pointed. This brush is firm enough to pat on and blend out product but its not too stiff . I've heard of people using this brush for other things as well such as packing on pigment loose/miniral shadows beacuse it is so versatile. It has no shedding and does not have an odd odor. This brush is great, I'm glad I got it!

Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette

So here are the swatches I promised. The first collage has pictures of the four swatch colors I chose. The first being a silver with a blue undertone. The second swatch is a peach, the third is brown with a bit of a red hue, and the fourth is a gold.
All of the swatches I chose were shimmer but there is a large variety of matte, shimmer, and satin colors. This palette is perfect for the smokey/office eye but can be amplified for night wear as well.
These colors are very pigmented and have wonderful color payoff. These swatches are on my arm without a base, so with a base these colors would be even better.
The second collage shows the pallete closed and opened. As you can see my mirror is already broken and the sponge tip applicators that it comes with are missing.
They fall out very easily and once they're out they are never going back in! The mirror breaking was an accident; I stepped on the palette and it shattered the mirror. Luckily none of the shards got into my shadows and none of the shadows were crushed from the pressure. Be very carefull. These palettes are not the sturdiest.
Overall, this is a wonderful beginner's palette if your not into bright colors and it is great quality for a good price. This palette is available at CoastalScents.com for around 25 dollars. Let me know what you guys think! Happy blogging and God bless :)

Coastal Scents Order Number 2 & 3

I am a big fan of Coastal Scents cosmetics. They have so much to offer from premade and custom palettes, mineral makeup, pigments, brushes, and so much more. Their site is not as glamourous as other sites but it is easy to navigate and offers great prices for quality products. The first thing I ever ordered from them was the 88 Warm eyeshadow palette and I'll have photos and some swatches of it up soon. Last week I also ordered two more palettes, some brushes, concealer quad, and other miscelaneous items but the shipping is taking quite a while so it might be a week or two before it all comes in.
